Routes: direct, relay, exchange

How SOL travels: one hop, through one-use relay wallets, or through an exchange.

Every Fund, Collect and SOL transfer picks a route: how the SOL travels from one wallet to the other. On chain, a direct transfer is a visible line between two addresses, and bubble maps draw those lines for anyone to see. If forty buyers were all funded from the same wallet, the map shows a cluster. Routes let you decide how much of that link you want to leave.

◎ SOL hop wallet: made for this move, emptied, never reused
Direct is one transfer. Relay walks the SOL through fresh wallets that are used once and left empty. Private sends it into an exchange order, and the payout comes from the exchange's own wallets.
Directprivacy low

Fastest, cheapest. Straight across, many wallets per transaction. Anyone can see the wallets share a source.

Relayprivacy good

2–5 one use hops. Each wallet's SOL goes through its own chain of fresh wallets, so the two ends never touch. One network fee per hop.

Privateprivacy best

Through an exchange. The sender pays the exchange, the exchange pays the receiver: nothing on chain ties them together. When available.

Direct

One transfer from the source to each wallet, batched: a direct fund puts up to 20 wallets in one transaction, a direct collect up to 9. It costs one network fee per transaction and finishes in seconds. Use it whenever the link between the wallets doesn't matter, such as topping up a funding wallet from main or moving SOL between your treasury wallets.

Relay

Each wallet gets its own chain of 2 to 5 fresh one use wallets, the hops. The SOL walks from the source to the first hop, on to the next, and finally to the wallet. Every hop forwards everything it holds and ends empty, and no hop is ever used again, so the source and the wallet never appear in the same transaction.

  • One wallet per transaction, and one network fee per hop, so a relay costs a few times what a direct move does.
  • Each wallet's amount must be at least Solana's minimum balance, about 0.0009 SOL, because every hop has to exist on chain on the way.
  • The whole chain of hop keys is generated and saved, encrypted like every wallet key, before any SOL moves. A crash halfway can always be finished.
  • Hops never show in your wallet lists. Each step on the job page names them, so you can follow the SOL hop by hop on Solscan.

Private

The private route sends each wallet's SOL through an exchange: the source pays into an exchange order, and the exchange pays the wallet out of its own funds. Nothing on chain connects the two ends. On the job page it shows as two steps per wallet, the deposit and then Waiting for the exchange, asking again in … until the payout lands.

  • The exchange charges about 0.35% plus 0.001 SOL per wallet; the review shows it as Exchange fee.
  • Its smallest order is set in dollars, about $12 of SOL (roughly 0.13 SOL at the end of October 2026). The review reads the current minimum live and refuses amounts below it.
  • One wallet per transaction, like relay.

The review always shows the real numbers before anything moves: the network fees and how many transactions they cover, the exchange fee, and roughly how long it will take.

Where you pick a route

  • Fund and Collect show the three route cards in their form. Reclaim rent has no route: the rent goes straight to a funding wallet.
  • Transfer and Withdraw of a single wallet show them too. Direct goes at once; Relay and Private run as a small background job, with a two factor check at review when the destination is outside the workspace.
  • USDC always goes direct. Relay and Private carry SOL only.
  • Warmup uses routes both ways, funding the wallets and sending them home. Existing wallets go Direct or Relay only. See Warmup.

When a relay stops halfway

If a relay job is cancelled or a step is skipped, some SOL can be left sitting in hops. Nothing is lost: the keys were saved before the SOL moved. The job page says how much is still in how many hop wallets, with a button Return to … named after the job's treasury wallet. It starts a new job that empties those hops back home.

◎0.084 is still in 2 of this job's one-use hop wallets. Send it back to Funding 1.

Return to Funding 1
A cancelled relay left SOL in two hops. The keys were saved before anything moved, so Return to Funding 1 empties those hops back home as a new job.

Privacy is about patterns too

A route hides the link inside one move. Habits can still give wallets away: the same amounts, the same minute, the same order every launch. Random amounts in Fund and the Spread out pace (a random pause between transactions) help with that. See Jobs.
